A Tour of Oak Island
Oak Island is one of Brunswick County's Barrier Islands. It is composed of the Town of Caswell Beach and the Town of Oak Island. Come explore the Island with us as you search for the cache. The cache is hidden at N 33 54.ABC W 078 11.XYZ. To determine A,B,C and X,Y, and Z you will need to Tour Oak Island.
A (waypoint 01). Visit Oak Island Lighthouse in the town of Caswell Beach. If you can park for 30 minute at the lighthouse,A=8, if you can park for 45 minutes, A=9.
B (waypoint 02)Mary E Morris (Shipwreck Park). Here is the shell of the Mary E Morris wrecked on Oak Island and discovered after a storm in 1999. If 4000 ships have been lost in the Cape Fear Region B=4, if 5000 ships then B=5
C (waypoint 03) Oak Island Nature Center. If at the waypoint, if the sign on the bench says "Oak Island Nature Center" C=3. Else C=4
X (waypoint 04) Oak Island Veterans Park. As you drive in and park, if there is one parking space reserved for Combat Wounded, X=8, else X=7.
Y (waypoint 04) Beach parking. The town of Oak Island has many points with free beach parking. Waypoint 4 is one of them. If at this waypoint the bike rack is on the left of the walkway to the beach, Y=7. If the Bike rack is to the right of the walkway Y=8.
Z (waypoint 6) The Point is at the end of oak Island. Z is the number of Handicap Parking places in the lot on the intra coastal waterway side.
Points A,B, C and X,Y, and Z run from the East of Oak Island to the West of Oak Island. As you go from Points A to Z you will be very near two virtual caches, one Earthcache and two traditional caches.
