Crochet hooks come in many forms.  Materials that the hooks are made in vary from bamboo, metal, plastic, bone etc.  Although all hooks have the same hook at top the handle also is varied to the very artistic, plain, to aerodynamic.  Most crocheters (also known as hookers) have there favourite type, this can be chosen to ease the pain of arthritis, carpel tunnel, trapped nerve or just the hook feels better in your hand.  

The hook size itself varies from the thinnest hook – used for doing delicate work including lace through to chunky hooks used with chunky yarn, t-shirt yarn etc.
