Il borgo di Macugnaga conserva accuratamente la memoria delle sue origini: citato già in un documento scritto del 999 come alpicella, forse dotato di un primo scarno insediamento permanente, è però stato colonizzato a partire dal XIII secolo dal popolo Walser, giunto dalla valle di Saas attraverso il Passo di Monte Moro, che ha plasmato l'intera vallata coi suoi usi, culture e tradizioni. Incamminarsi salendo verso il Moro è quindi risalire lo scorrere dei secoli, alla ricerca delle radici più antiche di questo stupendo paese.
La seconda cache si trova all'alpe Bill, un gruppo di casere ormai purtroppo abbandonate dopo la recente prematura scomparsa dell'ultimo pastore, ma nei cui ampi pascoli ancora vengono lasciati liberi, durante i mesi estivi, numerosi esemplari di bovini ed equini. Il panorama sul Monte Rosa, che da qua si osserva ergersi verso il cielo in tutta la sua imponenza, è assolutamente superbo. A circa cinque minuti di cammino dalle casere, sorge la stazione intermedia della funivia che, partendo da Staffa, raggiunge velocemente il Passo di Monte Moro.

The village of Macugnaga accurately preserves the memory of its origins: already mentioned in a document written in 999 as a small mountain, perhaps endowed with a first meager permanent settlement, it was however colonized starting from the 13th century by the Walser people, coming from the Saas valley through the Passo di Monte Moro, which has shaped the entire valley with its uses, cultures and traditions. Going forward towards the Moro is therefore to go back over the centuries, looking for the oldest roots of this wonderful country.
The second cache is located at Alpe Bill, a group of casere now unfortunately abandoned after the recent untimely death of the last shepherd, but in the wide pastures are still left free during the summer months, numerous specimens of cattle and horses. The view on Monte Rosa, which from here you can see rising towards the sky in all its grandeur, is absolutely superb. About five minutes walk from the casere, the intermediate station of the cableway rises, which, starting from Staffa, quickly reaches the Passo di Monte Moro.
