La cache si trova nei pressi del Santuario dedicato alla Madonna della Neve, edificato tra il 1618 e il 1622 nel luogo in cui già sorgeva un'antichissima cappellina lungo la mulattiera che da Bannio conduceva a Pontegrande e San Carlo. Nel 1722 il breve viale che unisce Bannio alla Madonna della Neve fu arricchito con la costruzione delle cappelle della Via Crucis, affrescate dal pittore banniese Gerolamo Ferroni, autore anche dei dipinti e degli affreschi che si trovano all'interno del Santuario. Costellato all'interno da numerosissimi ex voto, il Santuario, e il relativo culto alla Madonna della Neve, particolarmente radicato in seguito ad un voto espresso dalla popolazione in occasione dell'epidemia di peste seicentesca, è tuttora oggetto di sentita devozione da parte degli abitanti di Bannio, che lo festeggiano il 5 agosto di ogni anno.

The cache is located near the Sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of Snow, built between 1618 and 1622 in the place where there was already an ancient chapel along the mule track that led from Bannio to Pontegrande and San Carlo. In 1722 the short avenue that connects Bannio to the sanctuary was enriched with the construction of the chapels of the Stations of the Cross, frescoed by the banniese painter Gerolamo Ferroni, also the author of the paintings and frescoes found inside the Sanctuary. Dotted inside by numerous ex voto, the Sanctuary, and the relative cult to Our Lady of Snow, particularly rooted following a vote expressed by the population on the occasion of the epidemic of the seventeenth-century plague, is still the object of sentimental devotion by the inhabitants of Bannio, who celebrate it on August 5th of each year.
