The cache is not at the published coordinates, which are for a National Trust sign adjacent to handy parking. You need to collect information from this sign, and then make a short walk to the cache. The cache has been placed with kind permission from the National Trust Ashridge. Please make sure you read the entire page before you start your quest!
When you reach the published coordinates you should spot the above sign. Below it on the same post are two other signs. The middle one has nine lines of text, which for convenience we’ll label A Alpha to J Juliet (missing the letter I for India). For each line, take the first and last letter and convert them to their numerical values (where A=1 and Z=26). Take the smaller from the larger, and if the product has two digits, do the same again. The resulting single digit will be known by the phonetic alphabet word for that line. Are you still with me?
The bottom sign has two digits – make a note of these as you will need them later.
Now, following the obvious path from the Additional Waypointed trailhead, make you way southward to the kissing gate onto the open hillside. Along the way you will encounter two flights of plank-braced steps. How many steps in total? Add the two digits together and make a note of the single digit result - you will need this to access the cache.
Now make your way to the cache, which is [Delta plus Juliet] [Charlie plus Foxtrot] point [Hotel minus Golf] meters from the headline sign on a bearing of [Echo minus Delta] [Golf plus Alpha] [Charlie minus Juliet] point [Bravo plus Alpha] degrees.
