Welcome to this AR Scavenger Hunt Cache:
Firstly, many, many thanks *Cache_or_Check* in in Adelaide (yes, Australia) for his/her GC7TV0D- AR_Things that go bump in the night cache and for answering my questions so I could create this scavenger hunt.
About this cache:
The route is approximately 2 kms long. As all bar one of the locations are drive bys you can walk, cycle or drive the route and enjoy Greytown. The locations can be visited in any order. Park at the above coordinates and that will put you within 150 metres of two of the locations you need to visit. Park at the waypoint for the 3rd, 4th and 5th locations. Depending on the time of day parking could be a problem near the (6th) location called 'A giant tree'. You could walk to the final, but driving might be easier.
Open the Metaverse app on your phone, type 'Greytown' in the 'Search Metaverse...' box.. This will load what Metaverse calls a ‘group’ and you are ready to play.
This group contains seven individual experiences. Six experiences have a proximity setting which means you cannot see the details until you are within 30m of a fixed location. To find the locations, tap the dot within a circle at the bottom right hand side of this cache’s AR screen. This opens up a map. You will see the icon for each location (experience) as well as a blue dot on white, which is you. Tap an icon and it will tell you how long it will take you to walk with 30 metres of the icon.
When you have finished, you can open the seventh experience 'Checking your answer' -this is my geochecker.
In the event you need to restart or look for the group again, just enter 'Greytown' in the 'Search Metaverse...' box.
Please bring a pen and paper as it will be easier for you to record the data to make it easier putting it into the 'Checking your answer' experience.
The experiences were tested on an iPhone 6s and there were no issues. I do know android phones are a bit more temperamental.
About AR:
This cache is an Augmented Reality cache.
“This cache is part of an experiment that allows the use of Augmented Reality (AR) apps to find the cache. At the end of this experiment, Geocaching HQ will decide if this cache will be grandfathered or archived. Geocaching HQ reserves the right to archive this cache at any time if conditions change. If you have found this cache and would like to give feedback on your experience, please fill out this survey."
Please download the Metaverse App (for iOS or Android)) to be able to navigate to the final location.
Final technical notes:
The current functionality of Metaverse is such that experiences cannot be triggered automatically. At every location you need to run the experience individually. Also each experience can only have one location, so therefore each experience is separate rather than having one large experience. The Metaverse group functionality ties them all together.
