A incredible side trip from Gokyo lakes proper is to hike up the very steep, well maintained trail to the looming top of Gokyo Ri. You used to be only rewarded with a stunning view of Everest, now there is a geocache to grab as well! Trekking poles, water, good hiking boots, sun cream are recommended, as well as a good wind jacket as it can get gusty. ![]()
The cache itself is a large plastic container just below the peak and to the left of the trail. There is plenty of room for travel bugs and swag. Of course, camo the cache up carefully so muggles and the weather don’t misplace the cache.![]()
