The cork oak forest close to the Arboretum is a magical place, and right next to it is Forest 2, containing remnant and planted eucalyptus and grasses, and includes critically endangered Red box / Yellow gum grassy woodland. Forest 2 is a lovely meander with great views over to Black Mountain and the Tower. Make it a circuit by looping through the cork oak plantation.
Please note that access from the Arboretum via Cork Oak Rd is restricted to between 6am and 8.30pm. Access via the William Hovell Drive entrance is 24 hour.
