Porto Palermo Castle

It is often said that Porto Palermo Castle is a castle built by Ali Pasha of Tepelena in the 19th century. According to the type of the fort design we can now say that it is not true, and we have many reasons to believe that the bastion was built by Venetians, as it has very similar triangular shape as the Venetian fort at Butrint.

The castle has no yard inside, which is very unusual. Anyway, you may go inside and see it by yourselves, the entrance fee is only 100 LEK.

The cache is hidden behind the castle (there is a better path if you go from the right), right at the secret entrance to the castle, used mainly by ghosts and headless knights. It is not hidden at the ground level - read the hint and have a look at the spoiler pictures.

You may park at the main road at the parking close to the restaurant, or you may drive right to the beach. The beach is quite nice, so don't forget your swimsuit.
