This cache was hidden on EarthCache day, in the hopes that a second cache will draw people to the area to learn about the Brownsville Quarry! While wandering through the area answering the EarthCache questions, we found the perfect spot for a cache we've been carrying around in the backpack for a while. The hunt will be hard, but the victory will be worth it!
The hike to GZ is a little over a mile, the first quarter mile steep and the rest of the trail along an old access road to the quarry. The area is littered with old forgotten mining equipment- watch out for rusty edges when poking around here. The view from the edge of the quarry is beautiful. Park near Zebra Girl's Cache, Counting Sheep (GC4JZPP), and follow the trail at the top of the parking lot. If you're feeling really adventurous, you can continue up the mountain from the quarry, where you can find many more caches- we hiked up to Brownsville Rock after hiding this cache to watch the sun set. Happy trails!
