I'm standing on wet soggy ground and my feet are cold wet and soggy. Yeah, I'm not surprised either. That idiot husband of mine wanted to go for a "short walk in the woods." What makes it worse is that his boots are dry as a bone. Not for the first time I'm debating the wisdom of ignoring my friend's advice 35 years ago.
"What are you looking for?"
He didn't even turn around, "I'm looking for a pine tree."
I looked over to my right at this huge tree and set the container down. It fit absolutely perfect. "How about this spot?"
Got him that time, he actually turned around. "It's not a pine tree."
"I don't care. You said this was going to be my cache and I like this tree. It feels solid."
Idiot Husband looked at me again, "You do know what a..."
"I know what a pine tree is. THIS is my tree!" Hard to stamp your foot in soggy ground. I know, I tried. I settled for putting my hand on one of the trunks.
"All right, dear. This is your cache, this is your spot, and this is your tree." He smiled at me, "Am I allowed to contribute anything to your spot?"
I hate it when he smiles at me. "It had better be small."
He leaned over and picked up a branch with a few leaves on it that had fallen from the tree and placed it on top of the container. He raised his arms to the heavens and proclaimed, "Let all know that this is the cache of Look4Trolls. Furthermore, let it be known that this is NOT A PINE TREE!"
I'd kill him if I didn't need him to find the truck.
