Viale Abruzzi - C'era un volta un mercato..
Viale Abruzzi è uno dei viali che formano la famosa “Circonvalla”, la cerchia esterna realizzata secondo il progetto dell’ingegner Cesare Beruto che progettò la futura espansione di Milano dal 1884 al 1889.
Orami più della metà dei viali della circonvallazione sono stati convertiti in corsia preferenziale e alcuni palazzi storici sono spariti, inghiottiti da strade, semafori e rotaie.
Negli anni Cinquanta si decise di far passare il tram per farlo svoltare in via Pecchio e verso Loreto e il bel mercato che vedete nella foto d'epoca venne sacrificato.
Oggi questo tratto di via è una bruttissima spianata di catrame con leggera patina di ruggine ferrosa e una marea di dissuasori di parcheggio, quelli famosi a forma di panettone (visto che siamo a Milano, a Verona li avremmo chiamati Pandoroni). Naturalmente anche per chi vorrà fare un banale "park and grab" è possibile fare il parcheggio selvaggio.

Viale Abruzzi - Once upon a time there was a market..
Viale Abruzzi is one of the avenues that form the famous "Circonvalla", the outer circle created according to the project of the engineer Cesare Beruto who planned the future expansion of Milan from 1884 to 1889. More than half of the ring roads have now been converted into a fast lane and some historic buildings have disappeared, swallowed up by roads, traffic lights and rails.
In the fifties it was decided to pass the tram to make it turn into Pecchio Street and towards Loreto Square and the beautiful market you see in the vintage photo was sacrificed.
Today this stretch of road is an ugly clearing of tar with a slight layer of ferrous rust and a lot of parking bollards, the famous ones in the shape of "panettone" (since we are in Milan, in Verona we would have called them "Pandoroni"). Of course, even for those who want to do a trivial "park and grab" you can do the wild parking.
