Geocache Description:

It's much harder to find the tower than it is to find the cache so follow these instructions.

From No5 carry on along the path until you reach a point just before the woods end on the left and then take the track to your right.

A waypoint is provided so walk to that and then turn right into the trees. Now set your device to point to the tower and follow the tracks towards it, you can't really see the tower until you're quite close.

Suddenly you'll emerge from the Rhodadendrons and there it is in front of you.

After that finding the cache should be a piece of cake.

I've reused the original cache box with kind permission from Pharisee.

A bit of info found online-

Dawes Folly, was built in the 19th century to resemble a typical church tower of the area, complete with a stair-turret rising proud of the roof-line. Supposedly constructed by the landowner of Mount Ephraim who was a ship owner, enabling him to sit at the top and watch his ships out on the water to the north.

This series replaces “The Crockham Wood Trek” which I placed in 2015 after forestry work in 2018 meant it was no longer viable as many of the tracks used no longer existed.

The tree felling meant that the multi cache “The Tower on Holly Hill” owned by Pharisee which was placed in 2004 also had to be archived for the same reasons.

This new series takes the unaffected part of my old series and incorporates the Tower on the Hill into the gentle uphill route of just over a mile.
