Torre Villotta, ormai divenuto quasi un rudere fatiscente e irrecuperabile, è una delle torri più antiche di Molfetta. Si tratta di una torre di vedetta alta circa 15 metri ormai quasi totalmente invasa dalla vegetazione. Oltre alla torre vi sono diversi stanzoni con volte a botte ma anche dei pozzi sotterranei ormai vuoti. Trovandosi a lunga distanza dal centro cittadino, la torre si rese protagonista nel 1529 durante il famoso sacco di Molfetta. In soli 3 giorni estivi, precisamente 18, 19 e 20 Luglio, Molfetta fu invasa dalle truppe francesi e veneziane che, nonostante le robuste mura difensive. Più di 1000 persone vennero uccise e molti superstiti furono nascosti e successivamente ospitati nel maniero della torre fino a che non poterono tornare in città. Molto prima del sacco di Molfetta inoltre, si racconta che la torre fu utilizzata come centro di smistamento per i crociati in attesa d'imbarco per Gerusalemme.

Torre Villotta, now almost a ruin crumbling and irrecoverable, is one of the oldest towers of Molfetta. It is a lookout tower about 15 meters high now almost completely invaded by vegetation. In addition to the tower there are several large rooms with vaulted ceilings but also the now empty underground wells. Being a long distance from the city center, the tower became the protagonist in 1529 during the famous sack of Molfetta. In just 3 summer days, precisely 18, 19 and 20 July, Molfetta was invaded by French and Venetian troops, despite the strong defensive walls. More than 1,000 people were killed and many survivors were hidden and subsequently housed in the tower manor until they could return to the city. Long before the sack of Molfetta, it is said that the tower was used as a sorting center for the crusaders awaiting embarkation for Jerusalem.
