Another cache in my series dedicated to the songs of one of my favorite song-writer/singers.
I love old movies, so I couldn't pass up a song about old movies. If you haven't seen some of the old black and white detective movies (serials like the Thin Man, the Falcon, Boston Blackie, Philo Vance, or the Saint, to name a few [can you tell TCM is my favorite channel?]) do yourself a favor and check them out. Sometimes they are a bit silly, and not exactly 'politically correct' by today's standards, but they are still a lot of fun to watch. Or, go watch the great Humphrey Bogart playing Sam Spade in "The Maltese Falcon" or Phillip Marlowe in "The Big Sleep", you'll be glad you did.
As for the cache, I couldn't find "a two-toned Ricky Ricardo jacket" or "an autographed picture of Andy Devine", so I guess this will have to do. Maybe if you find this, you can say you solved some mysteries too!
If you park in the suggested location, take the second trail you come to, if you want a nice, easy walk to the cache. If you want more of a hiking challenge, take the first trail (called "Middle Earth" on the trail map). Cache is located a short distance off the trail. It should be available in the winter, depending on how deep the snow gets off the trail. However, if you go during the winter, be aware that these trails are for cross-country skiers, so please be courteous and accommodating.
And, ironically, be sure to bring your own pencil (or pen).
PS: I've been curious for a while to know who, if anyone, actually reads cache pages. If you have gotten this far reading this page, do me a favor and add the words "solved the mystery" to your log.
Congratulations to jackcat on FTF, must have been a frosty walk to the cache! Also wanted to give a shout-out to BigGriz who graciously donated part of the cache container, and was STF. Many thanks!
