Geocache Description:


The posted coordinates are at the entrance to the Montague Farm Estate, dedicated to all those who served in Vietnam.

The streets are named in honour of those from South Australia who were killed in action during the Vietnam war between 1962 and 1973..

 

Visit the War Memorials below and find the numbers represented by ABCDEFGHIJ.

 

 

Vietnam War Memorial. Henderson Street, Pooraka, - South Australia.

Description: A large grey granite boulder with a cut and polished face, a bronze plaque is affixed to the face. The memorial also includes the representation of three cast Pita Palm seeds with one beginning to shoot on the paved area in front of the monument.

 

 

An original plaque was unveiled by Tim Fischer M.P. on 2nd November 1993.

 

The plaque was redone by the request of Vietnam Veterans to include the names of all South Australian based military personnel killed in action.

 

The new plaque was unveiled by Keith Payne V.C. on Saturday AB August 2007.

 

 

Northfield RSL Peter Brown Drive, Northfield (Yatala), South Australia.

Description: In front of the RSL Building. A bronze plaque affixed to the face of a granite boulder.

Hope Valley & Highbury Memorial Institute. Valley Road, Hope Valley, South Australia,

Description: Memorial Hall, white foundation stones are set on either side of the main entrance.

Kokoda Memorial Doxiadis Drive, St Agnes, South Australia.

Description: A polished red granite obelisk surmounted on a three-tier base and concrete slab.

 

The memorial was erected in honour of 2000 Australian Military casualties incurred in the retaking of Kokoda 2nd November 1942

 

The memorial was officially dedicated by Trish Draper MP Federal Member for Makin 11th September 20FG

 

 

 

Tea Tree Gully War Memorial. Main North East Road, Tea Tree Gully, South Australia.

Description: Set in a memorial park in the semblance of an ancient Greek amphitheatre is a monument comprising a curved cut stone wall in three sections. On the left section is a circular bronze wreath and a Centenary of Armistice plaque, on the centre section is a white Cross of Sacrifice superimposed with a Crusader's Sword point down, on the right wall are three bronze plaques set on square black granite bases. The wall is set between two flag poles with the memorial facing stepped levels for viewing.

 

 

On the Centenary of Armistice plaque the approval number is H/I5/3J0
