I have always wanted to see in the New Year at the top of a hill and two years ago we walked to the top of our local hill, Dumyat, and did just that. It was a lovely winter's evening and we had a fantastic view back over the Forth Valley at the fireworks across Stirling, Clacks and Falkirk.
So I thought I'd quite like to do it again and it would be great to be joined by caching friends old and new. Bring a flask of what you fancy, I'll bring some shortbread/tablet and together we can welcome in the New Year!
From the parking coordinates it is approximately 2.5km to the top and approximately 230 metres of ascent. The path has been much improved in the last year or so but it is still rocky and muddy in places. Despite this being a relatively small hill, you will still need to be prepared with all the usual hill walking attire and equipment - and obviously a good torch as well.
The event coordinates are for the flat area just a few metres south of the trig point to hopefully provide a bit of shelter but still with great views. I'll decorate my rucksack with fairy lights so I'll hopefully be easy to spot!
