Geocache Description:

A simple social gathering under the nearly-full moon at a favourite secret place in the woods.

Sunday, November 18, 2018         4:30-6:00 pm

Muggle friends of mine expressed an interest in this place I keep talking about, so let's have a joint cachers-n-muggles event. Note the early start: sunset is 4:30 (yeesh), and the almost-full moon will have been up since 2:xx already. Temperature is 90% likely to fall between 0° and -9° at sunset, and you can claim that 4 out of 5 dentists will say [something stupid] even though every dentist you ask will say, Well, I'm the other one.

There's no iron-mannish hike as any obligatory part of the event (whew!), but a certain amount of walking in the wilderness is required, some of it off-trail, to get here. Come prepared with maps, lighting (in case the moon doesn't work or something), and your usual outdoor and emergency gear. Oh, and bring something to sit on. I'll bring the usual junk food, tools, and trimmings, but please bring your own choice of beverage.

My friends and I will be hiking in at 2:30 from the University gate, and you're welcome to join us. The group hike is entirely optional, and you're most welcome to simply proceed instead directly* to the event coords for sunset at 4:30. I expect we'll exit afterwards by curling around that marsh to the NW. Somebody please leave a car at the Exit Strategy waypoint.

DIY option, with University Gate shown at top right. Note marshes.

* Bridge Out! The last I looked, the beaver dam immediately east of the fireplace had a big gap, so access from the east is likely impassable. Don't expect any ice to be safe to cross just yet.
