Hawkins County operates Laurel Run Park, a nature park along the Holston River that offers a walking track, hiking trails, several waterfalls, disc golf, picnic shelters, tennis courts, and a children's playground. It is a great place to visit during all months of the year, but especially in spring when the wildflowers abound and in the fall when the foliage is brightest. The managers of this park are supporters of geocaching, and welcome cachers to hunt the many geocaches already hidden here. As always, tread softly, leave no trace, and CITO whenever possible.
At the time this cache is published, operating hours are posted as follows:
September 8am-7pm
October 8am-6pm
November-March 8am-4pm
Hours for summer months will be updated when available.
This cache is placed along the main trail through the park that leads to the waterfalls. It offers a good opportunity to pause and catch your breath after climbing the steepest part of this trail. In fact, you will probably want to veer off-trail BEFORE you reach the top of the hill to make your journey a little easier. Waiting until the very top of the hill to leave the trail will mean climbing a steep bank to get to the cache.
Since getting a lock on satellites can be difficult in the woods, I will provide a spoiler pic to help with the search. You are searching for a plastic ammo box with a few pieces of swag and an unactivated geocoin for FTF.
