If you've hiked the trail and crawled these rocks as long as I have, you have undoudtedly seen your fair share of creepy critters, but today is your chance to get up close and personal with one. I'm speeking, ofcourse, of those strange little lizards I can never get close to. I'm sure you've all seen them.
This is one of several caches on top of the wall which runs between Derkies lake and the Snake river. There are steps on each end of the lake which l've listed as trailheads in the waypoints tab. Follow the trails around either end of the lake until you encounter a series of stairs. Climb the stairs to the top of the wall and follow the trail to the cache. The steps are just about the hardest part of the hike.
This little guy lives in a hole in the wall of a small alcove near the base of some stairs. This area is popular with rock climbers and hikers, (and hopefully now geocachers), so he has plenty of company.
Most of the trip to this cache is a 2-3, but the last few feet turns it into a 4. Stand at the bottom of the steps, turn east, then go up the wall about 20 feet. No climbing gear is needed. It should be pretty easy, as long as you have good shoes. I had to make the climb several times just to hide the cache. I do suggest a partner, though, just in case. This cache has a 4 difficulty because of the number of places to look, but also because of the serious GPS bounce. Trust your geosenses.
