Amy Wheeley Lea, nicknamed the ‘Fairy Godmother of Hallow’ died a very wealthy and much respected woman, though her humble and insignificant grave to the right of the church porch gives no clue to her significance to the village. Amongst many acts of philanthropy, she paid for the church spire and the almshouses at the north end of the Village Green. To find out more about Amy see Hallow History Group website.
