Geocache Description:

While Traveling Along This Trail I Had Noticed A Little Spot For An Earthcache! So Why Not Place One Here!

"Swamp, characterized by mineral soils with poor drainage and by plant life dominated by trees. The latter characteristic distinguishes a swamp from a marsh, in which plant life consists largely of grasses. Swamps are found throughout the world. They exist in areas with poor drainage and sufficient water supply to keep the ground waterlogged, and they have a high enough supply of minerals in the water to stimulate decay of organisms and prevent the accumulation of organic materials. They are often found in regions of low relief associated with rivers that supply the water."

Formation Of A Swamp

"Swamps start out as lakes, ponds or other shallow bodies of water. Over time, trees and shrubs begin to fill in the land. Plants die and decay and the level of the water gets lower and lower. Eventually, the original body of water becomes a swamp"

D'Aubigny Creek

As D'aubigny Creek Floats Along the valley floor it collects runoff from the hillsides and water from many small tributaries all along its length. this combined with seepage from the nearby fields results in a extremely wet enviroment. Since the wet soil is rich with minerals, it allows more than enough  water plants to grow!
