The gateway was the entrance between the orchards of Farmhill house, where the houses of College Road now stand and an area known as the walking grounds which is now covered by Callowell school and its playing field. If you look up the alley you can see a tall section of the original wall that surrounded the grounds of Farmhill house. The house dates back to the 1700s with extensions added by George Holloway in 1880. It became a school for children with learning difficulties 1970s , and is now a private house again. This is a high muggle area during school time .
