Concubine Lane is one of the most popular sites for visitors to Ipoh. The narrow lane between rows of historic buildings is reputed to be where wealthy Ipoh merchants would house their concubines. The central location, in the middle of Ipoh Old Town, would have been convenient for the men to drop in to visit their ladies while on other business in town. Now, the lane is a tourist mecca, and quaint boarding houses, trendy eating, and tacky souvenirs jostle for space in the crowded and vibrant Concubine Lane. We recommend looking around the stalls in the area to find some interesting and delicious food choices. It's also a great place to look for some arty souvenirs or a refreshing drink.
To find the geocache/ letterbox, make your way to the coordinates listed for the cache. These coordinates should bring you to the western entrance of Concubine Lane. Cross the road and look for the narrow lane (the other, less busy end of Concubine Lane) that leads into the area known as "Plan B". You need to search all the nooks and crannies around the old buildings. Within 50 metres of the posted coordinates and only a handful metres from the barber's store, you will find a disused power distribution box. It's behind a row of stalls. In the box you will find the smaller box, which is marked with a geocaching symbol.
There is a fence around these old buildings and the gates are locked around 10pm each night. It is also not open early morning, so time your visit to arrive with all the tourists, and please practice stealth and pull the lid off carefully. There are a few small swaps, the log book and attached to the lid is a special "Ipoh" stamp we made especially for you. Bring your stamp pad (or water-based marker pen, which you can use to colour the stamp) and letterboxing journal to take a print of the stamp, and PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE STAMP FROM THE LID OF THE LETTERBOX.
