Geocache Description:

On 28 October, 2018, the Boston Red Sox defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers to win the 2018 "World Series".

This was the 4th Championship in the past 14 years; following a drought of 86 years before that! It was also history repeating itself, in a way. The only other time the Red Sox played the Dodgers (then known as the Brooklyn Robins) was in 1916. The overall result was the same in 1916 as 2018; the Red Sox won the "best of seven" game series, 4 games to 1. And like in 1916, one of those games went to extra innings. In 1916, the Brooklyn Robins and Red Sox went 14 innings and Babe Ruth pitched a complete game for a 2-1 victory. In 2018, Game 3 set a record for the longest World Series game ever - 18 innings, and lasted 7 hours, 20 minutes. That would be the only game the Dodgers won.

Let's reminisce, and follow some of the action, in both series. For both series, it is Game 5. Assume the starting lineups are playing.

1916

It's a cool day up North here in Boston. The Red Sox are playing in Game 5 of the World Series. Not in their new (built in 1912) home of Fenway Park, but at Braves Field, due to the larger seating capacity there.

Top of the First

Myers up to bat for Brooklyn. He swings.. a hard line drive, caught by Gardner. Next up, Daubert. He pops it up... Shore is calling for it... he makes the catch. Next.. Stengel walks. He then attempts to steal, but is thrown out by Cady, with Scott applying the tag.

Bottom of the First

Hooper leads things off for Boston. A lazy fly ball, Stengel drifts over and makes the catch. Next is Janvrin, he also hits a fly ball, this one caught by Myers. Next is Shorten.. he piles into a pitch, hitting it deep into the outfield.... Stengel is on his horse and makes a fantastic catch at the wall.

2018

It's just another sunny day here on the West coast. The Dodgers are hoping for a win in front of their home fans to send the series back to Boston. But David Price and the Red Sox would make sure that didn't happen.

Top of First Inning

Mookie Betts leads off for the Red Sox. Big swing, but a popup behind home plate, Austin Barnes hauls it in. Next up is Andrew Benintendi. He hits a ground ball, fielded by Kershaw, who tags him out. With 2 outs. Steve Pearce comes up, he hits a long fly ball to Yasiel Puig, who makes a leaping catch to end the inning.

Bottom of First Inning

David Freese gets things started for the Dodgers. He hits a long fly ball, but Mookie Betts tracks it down. Next is Justin Turner, with his red beard. He pops it up, caught by Vazquez in foul territory. With 2 outs, Enrique Hernandez comes to the plate, he hits a line drive, caught by Pearce.

The residential trackable "Pedro Bobblehead" is in the cache to be discovered. Please leave him in the cache.
