Welcome to the Manawatu Geocaching Club's People’s Choice Awards 2018 event.
This is the first of what we hope will become an annual event, and this year will be held on Saturday 17th November 2018, at All Saints Community Centre, 338 Church St, Palmerston North.
This event is open to everyone, and you do not need to be a member of the MGC to attend.
The focus is on a light-hearted recognition and celebration of some of the aspects of Geocaching that mean the most to us within the Manawatu, Wanganui and Horowhenua regions, with a potluck dinner to continue to foster our community.
Doors open for the event at 4.30pm.
Voting starts at 5pm, with potluck dinner at 6pm.
The Awards will be presented between dinner and dessert.
The evening’s events will commence with the Opening Welcome and Presentation of the six Categories and their respective nominees.
These categories are listed below, each complete with a link that will take you to the Geocaching Manawatu-Wanganui Facebook page where nominations for each award are being shortlisted. Please feel free to contribute any nominations you would like to see added for the appropriate category.
(If you are not on Facebook, or a member of the GMW Facebook group, then please feel free to add any nominations as a 'Write Note' on this event page, although for ease of use we would prefer any suggestions to be made on the FB page)
Nominations have already started on the GMW Facebook page (see below for the links), and the closing date/time for all nominations will be Sat 10th November at 3pm which is the conclusion of the MGC GIFF Event (https://coord.info/GC7WWKF) to be held at the same site. If you wish to submit any last minute nominations for any category at the GIFF event then please pass a written note to Thomas (Etherlord) before the end of that event.
Please note that the actual voting will be by ballot paper only on the night, and not as part of the nomination process.
Please bring some food and drink to share for a potluck dinner, enough to feed and water at least the number of people who are coming with you.
There is a full kitchen available to reheat/plate up/etc, and crockery and cutlery and cups are provided.
