Currently, it is a fineable offense to ride an e-bike on the Welland Canal trails.
The City of Welland reminds all residents that using motorized vehicles on public parks and trails is strictly prohibited. Those violating by-law 2000-175 face a $500 fine for the first offence; subsequent offences carry a $1,000 fine. City parks and trails are meant for passive use, and motorized vehicles, such as ATVs and E-Bikes, can cause damage to the natural state of the areas and pose dangers to those using these areas on foot.
You don't need to save any of the hints in the caches. All hints for the BONUS cache are in #55 Welland Canal Bike Trail GeoArt GC800W9.
Most Caches in the GeoArt are located a short walk off the paved Welland Canal Parkway Trail. The trail is wheelchair friendly, but most caches are not.
The Welland Canal Parkway Trail is a 40 kilometer paved trail located along the west side of the Welland Canal. The trail is best used from March until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. Take your bike aboard the free Port Robinson Ferry on your way to any Caches on the other side. The Ferry is open only in the summer months..
