Der heilige Bernhard von Baden steht als Statue in einer Mauer nahe der Waldkircher katholischen Kirche. Er soll der Schutzpatron der Armen sein, da er sein Leben damit verbrachte, ihnen zu helfen, bis er 1458 im Alter von 30 Jahren an der Pest starb. Die Statue wurde dort anfangs des 19ten Jahrhunderts aufgestellt, allerdings ist nicht klar, wer dies tun ließ und warum, aber gibt es 2 Hypothesen: die Erste ist, dass eine Äbtissin des Klosters im Mittelalter eine nahe Verwandte von ihm war. Die Zweite ist, dass ein kreativer Pfarrer damit die Gläubigen, auf dem Weg zur Kirche, ansprechen wollte, an die Armen zu denken. Seine Heiligsprechung wurde vom Papst am 13. Juli 2018, zwei Tage vor dem Gedenktag des badischen Landespatrons, nicht bestätigt, da der Vatikan die Heilung einer Ordensfrau nicht anerkannte. Er ist also selig, aber nicht heilig, sodass die Inschrift auf der " Hl. " Bernhard v. B" steht, falsch ist. Korrekt müsste die Inschrift also lauten: " Sl. Bernhard v. B" . (;
