Constructed in 1858 by John McEwen, who was also the first licensee. The premises
was first named the Prince Albert Inn after Queen Victoria’s husband.
Originally a single storey structure, the hotel was converted to double storey at the
time it was purchased by Gawler brewers, Fotheringham Brothers in 1901.
