Welcome to Heritage Ruins. This cache is a 20 L plastic container with a screw-top lid. 20 L volume puts it just in the Large (L)*-sized cache category. It contains a log book, a pen and a pencil, a First to Find prize, and some swag. Please remember the Geocaching rule to take swag from a cache only if you swap it for something of equal or greater value. Please also replace the cache's lid and disguise properly.
The first time I looked for these ruins I couldn't find them because they were hidden by long grass. The second time the grass had been cut and I could make out what's left of the dry stone walls. The design and purpose of the structure is still a mystery to me.
Please don't attempt what might appear on a map to be more direct routes to GZ from the west side of the creek. That would be dangerous. So, drive to the Parking waypoint where there's safe parking on the verge. Take a walk down the concrete path; turn left at the seats and walk downhill along the dirt track to GZ. Please be careful where you walk because the ground is sometimes steep, rocky and unstable underfoot. Also, If you're thinking of using the path near the intersection of Garrard Court and Strathtulloh Circuit to get closer to GZ, you will have to decide if you really want to break the Geocache rule and climb over a locked gate bearing a council sign telling you not to enter.
One cannot ignore the possibility that there might be snakes in the long grass. Please wear appropriate clothing. Happy geocaching!
