It seems like the 1980s are making a comeback. This year, the Wintergarden caches pay tribute to some of the trends that should stay masked by the filter of nostalgia.
You want a vaguely unsettling animatronic bear? Here you go!. Just stick a cassette tape in his back, and listen to the servos go as he "reads" you a story. For extra creepiness points, he was also the "spokesbear" for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Teddy also required quite a bit of battery power.
The B.G. Parks mandate for the geocaches at Wintergarden Preserve is to bring people here to visit our wonderful city resource, keep the social trails to a minimum, and to provide opportunities for families to interact with nature. Caches are replaced every October(ish). This year, in an effort to minimize wandering, most of the containers are attached to something. Please do not tighten any zip ties; they are loose to protect live vegetation and to allow more space to access the cache container.
