It seems like the 1980s are making a comeback. This year, the Wintergarden caches pay tribute to some of the trends that should stay masked by the filter of nostalgia.
In 1981, Video Killed the Radio Star. Everyone wanted their MTV, and the channel was basically a radio station with visuals. If you were lucky enough to have cable and not have strict parents, you might catch Billy Idol or Cyndi Lauper on cable, in stereo. By the end of the decade, time slots had been yielded to fashion, news, game shows, and eventually to the reality shows that took over the network.
The B.G. Parks mandate for the geocaches at Wintergarden Preserve is to bring people here to visit our wonderful city resource, keep the social trails to a minimum, and to provide opportunities for families to interact with nature. Caches are replaced every October(ish). This year, in an effort to minimize wandering, most of the containers are attached to something. Please do not tighten any zip ties; they are loose to protect live vegetation and to allow more space to access the cache container.
