Geocache Description:

It seems like the 1980s are making a comeback. This year, the Wintergarden caches pay tribute to some of the trends that should stay masked by the filter of nostalgia.

Home computers - the 80s brought names like Atari and Tandy and Commodore into our homes. You had to load the OS from a disk every time you started it up. A 5.25" floppy disk at that - one that was actually floppy! The really good games took several disks to play through the whole game. Your input options were pretty much the keyboard, and maybe if you were fancy, a joystick or a koala pad. If you wanted to play Rocky Boots in color, you had to run the computer through your television.

The B.G. Parks mandate for the geocaches at Wintergarden Preserve is to bring people here to visit our wonderful city resource, keep the social trails to a minimum, and to provide opportunities for families to interact with nature. Caches are replaced every October(ish). This year, in an effort to minimize wandering, most of the containers are attached to something. Please do not tighten any zip ties; they are loose to protect live vegetation and to allow more space to access the cache container.
