It seems like the 1980s are making a comeback. This year, the Wintergarden caches pay tribute to some of the trends that should stay masked by the filter of nostalgia.
In the 80s, if you wanted to take your music with you, it required a large box with about 10 pounds of D-cell batteries. Oh, and a box of cassette tapes. By the end of the decade, if you were one of the cool kids, you might have also been able to play CDs... as long as no one bumped the boombox. From there, a trend began of smaller, more personal listening experiences that maxed out as the iPod Nano before our smartphones absorbed portable music duty.
The B.G. Parks mandate for the geocaches at Wintergarden Preserve is to bring people here to visit our wonderful city resource, keep the social trails to a minimum, and to provide opportunities for families to interact with nature. Caches are replaced every October(ish). This year, in an effort to minimize wandering, most of the containers are attached to something. Please do not tighten any zip ties; they are loose to protect live vegetation and to allow more space to access the cache container.
