Due to the fact that the Deaf Institute is over 200 years old, the history itself is not so much just as the building, but the institution and the environment that it operates in is so abundant and enriched that it is worth knowing that it is impossible to ignore it at all.
Due to the fact that the Institute is still thriving, constantly updating more noteworthy events, I decided, together with a group of friends from work, to post only on the cache page the history of the Institute in a nutshell. However, if someone would like to become acquainted with it in more detail, he will have the opportunity to do so thanks to SURPRISE, which you will soon learn and refer to the sources of this knowledge posted on websites.
Institute of the Deaf Jakub Falkowski - history in a nutshell
The Institute was established on October 23, 1817 on the initiative of priest Jakub Falkowski. Initially, at the University of Warsaw at the Kazimierzowski Palace, in the years 1820–1827 at the home of the visiting sisters at Krakowskie Przedmieście. Then, the construction of the Institute's headquarters at Trzech Krzyży Square began. Construction completed in 1827. During World War II, the Germans set fire to the Institute's building. It has been rebuilt and has survived to this day. [1]
The story continues:
• 1948 - rebuilding of the Institute by director Edward Zawadzki.
• 1962 - transfer of blind children to Laski. From this year the old name returns - Institute of the Deaf.
• 1983 - naming the Institute of Jakub Falkowski, handing the flag to the institution.
• 1991r.-2002. Modernization
• 23.X.2002, unveiling and consecration of the monument to Fr. Jakub Falkowski by priest Cardinal Józef Glemp - Primate of Poland.
• 2003 - opening of the first High School for the Deaf in Poland.
• 2005 - my first steps in a world of silence: p
• 2007 - unveiling of the monument to the bridesmaid Wanda Tazbirówna in the courtyard of the Institute
• 2010 - opening of technical school.
• 2012 - renovation of the kindergarten and primary school building.
• 2013 - renovation of the auditorium.
• 2015 - Unveiling of the monument to the Deaf Soldiers of the Home Army and Deaf Participants of the Warsaw Uprising
