Geocache Description:

Another in our series of Church Micros in the South Wales area.

Not within the Church precincts, so please don't search in the grounds

An Anglican parish church of 1878-80 by H.F. Clarke of Briton Ferry built for the local industrialist family of Jenkins for £4,500.
The tower was not added until 1914-15 to designs by Glendinning Moxham of Swansea, for about £3,000.
Built with rock-faced Pennant stone with Bath stone dressings and slate roofs.
It comprises five-bay clerestoried nave with lean-to porch in second bay, seven-bay lean-to aisle on north side, and chancel with south tower in four stages. The north view is one of enormous length, the aisle continuing unbroken to the east end. The interior is tall with plastered walls. Notable features are the high arch-braced scissor-trusses to the nave roof, the massive chancel arch with corbelled columns, huge naturalistic leaf capitals on short round piers, panelled diagonally-boarded chancel roof with transverse ribs on corbels. Fittings include an immersion font with two flights of steps down and a brass eagle lectern.
