hayleyfinn: With the ongoing pandemic having multiple visitors loitering, and touching the area and items goes against medical advice so will archive this cache. There are no trackables in it so any listed should be marked lost.

Geocache Description:

Welcome to Keswick!

BEWARE!  This is a local muggle cut through, stealth required. GPS doesn’t work due to buildings so you’ll need to think like a geocacher. This cache is big enough for multiple travel bugs.

We moved here in September 2018, infact we own the building you are stood next to.  One of my projects was to set up a travel bug hotel for Keswick town.

St John's Street is named after St John's church, which is only a short walk up the road from your location and well worth a visit for the views and to be at the highest point in Keswick.

Keswick's recorded history starts in the Middle Ages. The area was conquered by the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Northumbria in the seventh century, but Northumbria was destroyed by the Vikings in the late ninth.

Keswick was granted a charter for a market in 1276 by Edward I. This market has an uninterrupted history lasting for more than 700 years. The pattern of buildings around the market square remained broadly the same from this period until at least the late 18th century.

St John's Street was one of the original roads out of Keswick to Ambleside.
