There are so many sites of interest in Laggan that it is not possible to place them all in town. I created this mini trail on a road less travelled so that geocaching visitors might know what they are seeing when they do reach town.
The original building hotel location started as a store. In 1855, a license was awarded to Martin Clancy and "The Laggan Inn" started serving liquor. The name soon changed to "The Laggan Hotel" and has continued trading as that to the present day.
The current hotel was built by Jane Cummins in 1924 replacing the previous building that had partly been destroyed by fire. The ownership of the hotel has stayed within the same family since 1947.
Starting in 2012, The Laggan Hotel has been host to the annual Clawfield Cup (yabby races). The races are held in November and are a very popular fund raising event for the Crookwell Soccer Club.
Thanks to Monica Croke's Hotels, Inns and Shanties of the Upper Lachlan Shire and trove.nla.gov.au which were used to research the information in this description.
