Geocache Description:

About the Gox

As a child (or perhaps as an adult) you may have come across a Dr Seuss character called the Gox. But...there was more to the story than was told. And it's quite an odd story. Did you know that one of the Gox chose to move to Canberra and set up house...in a tree. It keeps a log of visitors. To visit it, you'll need to find the address. So, in a tribute to this good Doctor, read on, solve and visit the Gox.

The following story is sure to amaze.
There once were five friends who started a craze.
Each owned a creature known as a Gox.
But did you know that a Gox loved to box?

So the owner and Gox, they boxed every day.
They got fit. It was fun in its own special way.
They boxed each other. They'd go for a while.
But the Gox, I'll admit would do it in style.

Each Gox would box in clothes like socks,
Or cloaks, or frocks, or specs or jocks.
But when they boxed, a Gox would talk,
Or sulk, or joke, or mock or squawk.

Owners were shorter than Gox, by far.
They had to stand on stacks to spar.
The stacks included a pile of rocks,
Or bricks, or sticks, or concrete blocks.

And when the box with the Gox was done,
The owners' fun had just begun.
As owners had pets, like ducks or drakes,
And yaks and hawks and slick, black snakes.

So from the facts you'll read below,
Solve who has what. I know you'll know.
Then you'll be able to find the Gox,
Who's hiding somewhere…ready to box.

In fact, a clue to set him free,
Look up, climb up a yellow tree.
He's in a box, it's yellow, you'll find,
Attached to a limb of a Yellow Box kind.

The Facts

  1. The number of pets are from five down to one.
So now your fun has just begun!!
  2. Flick liked pets who roamed in packs,
So she prefered a pack of yaks.
  3. Jack was an owner of a Gox,
Who liked to box in stripy jocks.
  4. To box the Gox, Zack's box of tricks
Were several sturdy stacks of sticks.
  5. And by the way, the count of drakes,
Outnumbered by one, the count of snakes.
  6. And as for snakes, their owner's tricks
To box the Gox, were stacks of bricks.
  7. He hooked and jabbed, that Gox who'd joke.
He was rather smart in a velvet cloak.
  8. The owner with hawks, he weaved and baulked,
But his Gox just stood around and squawked.
  9. The owner who owned three onerous pets
Would box with blocks all stacked in sets.
  10. Nick had a pet, just one you see.
The ducks, there were more, but less than three.
  11. The owner who owned the sulking Gox,
Had stacks of racks in which to box.
  12. Beck was an owner of the Gox,
That mocked when it was time to box.
  13. The following owners (I'm nearly done).
Had a count of pets with a difference of one:
    • The owner who owned the talking Gox
and the owner whose Gox wore frilly-edged frocks.
    • The same owner who owned that talking Gox
and the owner who needed some rocks to box.
    • The owner who owned the squawking Gox
and the owner whose Gox wore colourful socks.
