Lin and I are children of the sixties and we often wander off down memory lane. We were both brought up at Swimbridge and St.James church has been important to us. We christened, confirmed and married here and we have our closest relations buried here..
In the sixties this church was truely the centre of everything for us from youth club,. Sunday School outings, to harvest suppers. I was a choirboy and an alter boy here.. We think its time to place a CM here.

Church History. The Tower is probably 13th cent. with the Broach Spire being added in the 14th. century. The rest of the building is 15th and 16th cent with restoration being carried out in the 1880s. There is a hole in the door of the font which were were brought up to believe was a bullet hole from the civil war. I now think this is doubtful because if the roundheads were in the church it is unlikely that the elaborate rood screne would have been unharmed. The Rev. Jack Russell of dog breeding fame was rectory here.
