The girl in the spider's web is the fourth book in the Millennium series.
Swedish author and journalist Stieg Larsson wrote the first 3 books, known as the Millennium trilogy, before passing away at the age of 50. After the international success of the series, the fourth novel was commissioned by the Larsson estate and written by Swedish author & crime journalist David Lagercrantz.
The Project was controversial though. Larsson's long-time partner voiced criticism against the Larsson’s family as none of Stieg’s materials she still possesses for future books were ever used.
Nevertheless, 8 years after the last of the trilogy, the book was welcomed from fans all over the world, delighted over the return of Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist.
The plot for this novel is around different concepts of Intelligence.
Late one night, Blomkvist receives a phone call from a source claiming to have information vital to the United States. The source has been in contact with a young female superhacker - a hacker resembling someone Blomkvist knows all too well. The implications are staggering. Blomkvist, in desperate need of a scoop for Millennium magazine, turns to Salander for help. She, as usual, has her own agenda.
The secret they are both chasing is at the center of a tangled web of spies, cybercriminals, and government operatives willing to kill to protect their secrets.
