The Silly and the Serious

Bowral is a town that wants you to know where you are. In fact, no sooner do you leave Mittagong than Bowral sends an emissary in the form of Don Bradman to welcome you (S 34 27.384, E 150 25.713). And in case you miss him, Geocaching steps up to greet you in his place (GC2ACD9). By the time you actually get to the intersection that steers you down main street or let's you opt to bypass the place completely, you hardly need to be told you're a welcome visitor.

Anyway, if you do decide to stick around a while, the posted coordinates will take you to a nice little park where you can discover who's who around Bowral, where every seat owns a dedication, where even the flag pole has a memorial, and, lest you forget, you may pause and give remembrance to those who helped keep this friendly place open to all who pass.

To find this cache

The two waypoints will take you to Bowral's Commemoration Wall and to a large War Memorial. Use the information at these locations to calculate the final coordinates:

S 34° 28.(A)(B)(C) E 150° 25.(D)(E)(F)

WP1 (South) - Bowral's Commemoration Wall

A = The number of letters describing the room in which Wilfred found his mother-in-law.

B = The number of letters in the street name where Joe Clarke dropped a load off his dray.

C = The number of letters in the first word of the Latin motto on the Bowral Coat of Arms.

WP2 (East) - War Memorial

D = The last digit in the first year noted on the plaque memorializing the Korean War.

E = The second digit in the first year noted on the plaque memorializing the Boer War.

F = The last digit in the first year noted on the plaque memorializing the Vietnam War.

Checksum S=39, E=23
