Akko is a city in the northern district of Israel, bordering the south shores of the Gulf of Acre. It's one of the oldest port cities in the world, passing from hand to hand since the Bronze age. In the 19th century, the importance of the city waned, and eventually was superseded by Haifa. In 2001 old Acre was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO.
The city gate is located in the northwest of the city and serves as an entrance to the walled city. The cache is located at Yehonatan Hasmonean street. This gate served the city governers. Most notably of whom was El-Gazar, who governed at the beginning of the 18th century and was known as the Butcher. Adjacent to gate entrance, is a tower called the "Kapo Burg", which served to protect the land entrance to the city.
