21 Nov 18 update. I had to adust the date of this event from 2 Dec 18 to 5 Jan 19. It turns out Pottawattamie County closes their trails during shotgun season which runs from 1 - 5 Dec 18. I apologize for the inconvenience
Come join us for an invigorating nature hike through the Hitchcock Nature Center. The invitation goes to all geocache hunters and those interested in taking up the geocaching hobby. Think of this event as training for those caches with the hiking attributes.
The plan is to meet at the posted coordinates between 11:00 and 11:30 am. After everyone has had a chance to log in, we'll setp off at 11:30. We'll hike south on the Badger Ridge Trail, and return on the Blazing Star trail. This route will take us on a 1.0 - 1.5 mile hike up and down some of the ridge lines. Per Groundspeak's guidance on "moving events," there is no requirement to join the hike. All that is required would be to meet at the posted coordinates during the first 30 mintues of the event. Parking fee is $3 per vehicle (not per person, per vehicle)

The Hitchcock Nature Center exists to develop and foster appreciation and understanding of the Loess Hills as a globally significant landform through land management, environmental education and low-impact recreation.
Acquired by Pottawattamie County in 1991, Hitchcock Nature Center currently consists of 1,268 acres located in the heart of the globally significant Loess Hills. The Loess Hills harbor some of the largest remaining prairie remnants in Iowa and provide refuge for plants and animals found nowhere else in the state. Hitchcock is open every day of the year for hiking, camping, picnicking, bird watching, snow sledding, star gazing, or simply enjoying nature.
