Anyone who goes travelling has stories to tell.
In former times storytelling has been a social gathering by people driven by the desire to share experiences. This ancient place offers a perfect setting for just this – storytelling.
In the days of the Nabataeans the gorge has already been the crossroad of several caravan routes. A sheltered place, where at the campfire in the evening informations have been exchanged, contacts made and trades sealed. That brought knowledge, wealth and friendship.
After reading the logs of the valley caches I recognized that Petra is once again a meeting place for people from all over the world.
This event here at the World Heritage site at Petra, one of the biggest attractions in the Middle East, is picking up the old tradition of storytelling to a modern level. Let's take the opportunity to make Petra a meeting place again, like the gatherings in the old days of the Nabataeans although without a campfire :)
This time it's an occasion for geocachers from all over the world. Maybe our roads cross here during the event at this amazing place. Let´s talk about our hobby, make new friends and take the chance to swap coins and trackables.

Meeting point are the stairs next to the Petra Visitor Centre (see coordinates above) from 16:00 -16:30.
Here we will have time to sign the logbook in comfort and once again recall the impressions of the gorge
