The Blaine Boating Center is a popular place for boating enthusiasts. The plaza overlooks the visitor docks and marina including the landing of the historic M.V. Plover ferry.
This little 17-passenger ferry plies the waters between Blaine harbor marina and Semiahmoo Spit. The crossing takes around 23 minutes and is a fun ride, looking for sea life and enjoying the birds and views. The ferry was built in 1944 to carry cannery workers back and forth across the channel between Blaine and a former salmon cannery on Semiahmoo Spit. At the Spit you can walk around and enjoy the views or have lunch at the resort located there. You'll find historical photos of the cannery at the resort.
M.V. Plover operates from Memorial Day to Labor Day, departing each hour on the hour. It leaves Semiahmoo each half hour.
Congratulations to gurn4you and jamikady for the FTF!
