The cool streets of South Haven will be blazing during the HOTTEST winter festival around! February 1-3, 2019, sleepy South Haven will fill up with locals and visitors checking out the amazing ice sculptures, tasting delicious chili, enjoying spectacular food and drink specials featured in the pub slide, cheering for your team at the cardboard sled race, and having fun ice skating, curling, fling a frozen fish, taking a horse-drawn wagon ride, a snowsuit fashion contest, Break the Ice 5k, Heat the Streets with the Boy Scouts, shopping favorite stores and reconnecting with friends! So mark your calendars!
Along with our tried-and-true events, we're bringing back the Cardboard Sled Race that was a crazy amount of fun last year!! The third annual competition will be held at the Coast Guard Hill on Saturday afternoon, and we'd love to see your crazy cool cardboard creation slide down the hill! Your cardboard sled can advertise your business, pay tribute to your favorite fictional (or real) character, or just be your vision of a cool design! There's no fee to enter, and anyone can participate- individually or as a team. You'll have a chance to show off your sled before taking it for a ride down the hill to glory! This is a family-friendly event, so sled designs must be appropriate for kids. Compete for prizes in several categories and age groups. Even if you don't compete, come out to watch the fun- this is an event you don't want to miss!
Back by popular demand will be the second annual frozen fish fling! Fling a frozen fish the farthest and win cash! Top 3 flings win trophies and unique bragging rights! YES, we will be using real frozen fish for this event (not to worry, we are not wasting food- we have sourced non-edible sucker fish and will also be re-purposing them after the event). Kids can fling a fish too, but they'll get to throw the rubber ones! Adults pay $5 per fling, kids pay $1. The farthest adult fling wins 1/2 the cash! All kids get a prize. This event is only 1 hour- from 2-3pm on Saturday, February 2nd near the South Marina. It's sure to be fun to watch and even more fun to fling! Don't miss it!
