Belle Isle Cachers: Our good friend and partner as the Belle Isle cachers Brummelbear got to look down and over all the cachers that came out for these memorial caches to him for 3 years, the longest any of our caches stayed active. A get honor to a great guy, we sure miss you, Leo!!
Thank you to all who have come in search of this cache. It is time for new caches on Belle Isle.

Geocache Description:


CB is the short for Celebrate Brummelbear (4-7-1944 – 3-17-2018). Leo’s vision of events in Detroit and on Belle Isle live on in his memory.


Brummelbear’s Celebrate Belle Isle: Talking Statutes was placed for the 2006 and first Belle Isle event. Same type of field puzzle and the same type of hide, with a bit larger container.


In 2006 Brummelbear and Rattrak set off on a great adventure of the upper peninsula of Michigan to fill in all of the counties, this may have been what started Leo’s love of challenge caches. The trip was to get the oldest or (FTF) the newest in each county. We hit many FTF on the way and also did very well on oldest in each county. Most memorable was Hancock Michigan, GCWWP8 – Tori. The cache had been DNFed, cord change and still no finders. Poor Leo hated when I would say “I have a feeling” which was short for the cache is here, and we are not leaving until we find it! On the last ditch effort on the way back to the car we found it on a hillside 125 feet from the posted cords. We were the first and only to have ever found that cache. The cache the picture was taken at we did not do on that trip but each of us have visited the Big Spring Thing since.
