Beach Clean on Hamble Common
10:00 – 11:30
Wednesday 19th December 2018
We have been invited by the Hamble Conservation Volunteers to join them for a beach clean on Hamble Common.
Please indicate your ‘will attend’ and arrive five minutes early for registration on our own log sheet. We will then be given instructions and a Health & Safety brief by Phillip from HCV before the exercise begins.
Parking: There is parking at the Hamble Point car park meet spot itself and more on street parking nearby. Please allow for travel time and arrive five minutes early for CITO registration.
Where: Meet in the car park at Hamble Point on School Lane, Hamble (as per given CITO coordinates) or find us on the beach!
What: Join us collecting litter from the beach at Hamble Common. It is an unfortunate fact of life that not everyone respects our environment, even those who use the Common and its beaches on a regular basis, so there is a continuing need to sweep the beaches for litter. Most of the litter is unsightly but a significant proportion is hazardous to wild life, domestic animals and us. The current record for a day is 28 bags of rubbish achieved by a solid turnout of regular volunteers.
How: Phillip from Hamble Conservation Volunteers will be there providing guidance and tools. Please wear warm clothing, sensible footwear and your own gloves if you prefer. The event will proceed in any weather unless there are high winds or storms. There will be appropriate tasks for almost any ability level.
Health and Safety: All health and safety rules apply. Children will need supervision and pets kept under control.
