Geocache Description:

CB is the short for Celebrate Brummelbear (4-7-1944 – 3-17-2018). Leo’s vision of events in Detroit and on Belle Isle live on in his memory.

Brummelbear’s BI – Roostertail Turn was placed for the 2009 Belle Isle event. This year’s cache is the exact type of container in the exact location as the first 10 years ago. Leo loved this view and his memories of the Hydroplane boats flying around the Roostertail turn, of course throwing a Roostertail of water through the air. This is how the restaurant across the water got its name and a place he like to eat.

This is Leo claiming a memorable cache. We were on Route 80 heading home from a month long trip. We had crossed the Mississippi River into Illinois when Leo mentioned that there was a cache back in LeClaire, Iowa. He insisted that we should not turn around and head west again, but I convinced him that it would probably be a long time before we were back in this area, so why not! I was driving while Leo used his GPS to direct me to the cache. We were going down alleyways and side streets and I questioned Leo if he knew what he was doing. As we headed down another alley, the road opened up to a parking lot packed with motorcycles, cars and people. We were at the LeClaire, Iowa store of the American Pickers and there was a cache in the trunk of the Nash Statesman parked next to their store. Their show on the History Channel became one of our favorite programs since the car with the cache was often shown and Leo would proudly announce, “I know what is in the trunk of that car”.
